The Purerua Packing Co. was established in the late 19th century by local Northland settler Walter Mountain. The Stone Store stocked 'Penguin Brand' cans of mullet, corned beef and plum pudding amongst other delicacies until the 1930s. The Purerua Packing Co. is long gone but these beautiful goods are printed using the original labels and a fine reminder of early settler ingenuity.
