Clendon House

$8.00

Clendon House is a handome colonial homestead, nestled on the edge of a haunting landscape, and looking out over the glistening waters of the Hokianga Harbour.  The Hokianga has a past, a narrative of deep secrets, told in part by its landforms and by Maori in ancient legends,  Here also are 200 years of tales from the white settlers, of how the fit survived and made this land their home.

Clendon House has its own 24 page commemorative colour booklet, telling one such story of courage and determination - that of James Reddy Clendon, and more importantly his young widow, Jane.  Various rooms in the house, and the garden are also presented.

A memento for visitors to Clendon House, the readily approachable style and attractive photographs make it enjoyable and easy reading even if you don't have the chance to pay a visit.
