Ewelme Cottage

$5.00

Ewelme Cottage has an eccelesastical background, having been built for the first resident vicar of Howick, Vicesimus Lush and his family.  From the time it was completed in 1864 until 1968, it was lived in almost constantly by members of the Lush family - rare in an area where most historic houses have changed hands several times.  Ewelme is also unusual because it has been left largely unaltered since the 1880s, and contain most of its original furniture and many other fascinating chattels.

This little book chronicles the story of Vicesimus Lush and his family, and the house itself.  Find out the origin of the Cottage's seemingly unusal name, and the manner in which the Lush family, like many families of their time, went about their daily lives.
