Imagine your child’s christening at Old St Paul’s, Wellington’s treasured historic church.

Famed for its glowing wooden interior and beautiful stained glass windows, Old St Paul’s offers an intimate, welcoming, and tranquil setting for your ceremony.

Old St Paul’s is a consecrated, non-denominational church, and you may have a religious christening or a naming ceremony.

Since the sacrament of baptism symbolises entry to the church community, the baptistery with its baptism font is located near the entry to the church. The beautiful stone font came from England in 1866 and is one of the original furnishings of the church.

Hiring Old St Paul’s for a christening/naming ceremony

Old St Paul’s does not have a resident clergy so you will need to organise your own minister or celebrant. We are able to refer you to ministers or celebrants should you not already have someone in mind. Please note that celebrant fees are not included in the Old St Paul’s christening fee. If you prefer an Anglican christening, you will need to contact the Wellington Cathedral of St Paul’s on 04 472 0286.
